    Memphis Workers Center

Every worker has rights, whether you’re an immigrant or you were born in this country. The Memphis Workers’ Center partners with workers to stop wage theft and uphold your basic rights.

The Workers’ Center is a project of Workers Interfaith Network (WIN). It is a safe place where you can learn about your rights. With other workers, you will learn how you can work together to change unfair conditions at your job.

Stopping Wage Theft
If you think your boss has stolen any of your wages, we encourage you to contact WIN’s Workers’ Center. If you’re not sure, you can see some examples of wage theft here.

The Workers’ Center partners with workers to help you recover your stolen wages. It’s important to know that we will work with you, not for you. You will play an active role in recovering your wages.

We are not attorneys, although in some cases we can provide you with a referral to an attorney if we are not able to partner with you on your case.
The Workers’ Center may also be able to assist you if you have been injured on the job, there are safety problems at your workplace, or you have been a victim of discrimination.

Worker Rights Meetings
Each Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. at WIN’s office, workers gather to learn about their rights. You’ll learn more about what the law requires in terms of your pay, your safety, discrimination, and more. You can also get a brief summary of some of that information here on our website.

If you want WIN’s Workers’ Center to take on your case of wage theft, an injury, or discrimination, the first step is to come to a Thursday night Worker Rights meeting. We encourage you to contact us at (901) 332-3570 before coming to that meeting, so we can learn more about your situation and tell you what materials to bring with you about your case.

Organizing for Justice

WIN’s Workers’ Center also brings workers together to organize for justice. For example, our members push for better laws at the local and national level that will make it harder for employers to steal workers’ wages. If you want to stand up for justice with your fellow workers, sign up for WIN’s email updates using the box in the upper right corner of this page. We’ll tell you when your action is needed.
